Elite Café owner Michael Colias recalls that the restaurant often catered Karem Shrine ceremonies and other events in the community. He also explains that when President Harry S. Truman visited Waco in 1947, during which he received a Gold Membership Card from the Karem Shrine, he ate a meal at the Elite Café.
